Lyon has two funicular railways running westwards from the old city centre at Viex-Lyon : a one-stop line to Fourviere and a two stop line to St Just via Minimes. The Fourviere district is the site of the magnificent Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fouviere, from where there are magnificent views of the entire city far below. Minimes is the stop for easy access to the two Roman theatres built into the hillside overlooking Lyon
