Tramscape Tramway
Photographs
Hannover,
Germany : 6th and 15th April 1998
This series begins on the
route from central Hannover to Ahlem, including the extension from
Limmer to Ahlem via Ehrhardsstrasse on 6/4/98. Photos taken on the
same day illustrate Goetheplatz and Klevertor on the Ahlem route
before following routes 4 and 5 to Hogrefestrasse where the new route
4 to Garbsen branches from the Stocken route. This branch was opened
in two stages, to Marienwerder Wissenschaftspark on 25th September
1995 and to Garbsen on 29th September 1996. Returning to the city
centre, photos include Weizenfeldstrasse and the Stocken terminus,
the ramp at Universitat on the Stocken/Garbsen route, the Sarstedt
route from Dohrener Turm as far as Eichstrasse in Laatzen, plus
Seelhorst and Mittelfeld on the Messegelande branch. Two views show
the surface tram terminus at Aegidientorplatz, established in
September 1996 when route 10 was cut back from
Rathaus/Friedrichstrasse. Views of Hannover's new "Tram-2000" are
included.
Photos taken on 15/4/98 feature the route north to Langenhagen. Views
included are at Vahrenwalder Platz (including the ramp),
Niedersachsenring, Buttner Strasse and Wasserturm in Hannover
territory, plus Berliner Platz, Angerstrasse, Langenforther Platz and
Langenhagen Zentrum in the independent town of
Langenhagen.
