Tramscape Tramway
Photographs
Dortmund,
Germany : 22nd March, 1991
This series covers the
single track branch in Aplerbeck which was subsequently converted to
high level platforms for Stadtbahn service in 1994. The central
alignment in Westfalendamm and ramp into the tunnel network at
Kohlgartenstrasse is highlighted. Comprehensive coverage is given to
the central tram stop at Kampstrasse and on Kampstrasse at
Reinoldikirche plus views of Kleppingstrasse, Kuckelke and Konigswall
from where trams had already been removed following the progressive
opening of tunnels under the city centre for Stadtbahn services.
The series then follows the long eastern route from Wickede to the
city centre via Asseln and Brackel. From Asseln to Wickede the route
is single-track with passing loops. The central area from Kampstrasse
along Hansastrasse to Stadtgarten / Stadttheater is highlighted. The
Grevel route is illustrated between An den Teichen and Scharnhorst
Centrum in its final form before conversion for services by B-type
trams, which took place on 26/9/92.
The Westerfilde route is followed from Westerfilde to Hafen, showing
the construction work for the new station at Hafen and future
alignment to Huckarde. The route is shown in its final form prior to
conversion to full Stadtbahn standards. Also highlighted is the
single track route on Evinger Strasse between Gravingholz and
Brechten on the Brambauer route in northern Dortmund and the western
route to Dorstfeld and Marten.
