Despite its small size, Brandenburg's tram system
now presents a thoroughly modern image, with considerable amounts
of money having been spent on it since the reunification of Germany.
In common with most other "eastern" town and cities, the
fabric of the city has also been improved considerably, be it roads,
open spaces, older buildings or newer suburbs, such as Hohenstucken
(photo left). The small size of the town and its declining population
since 1991 has left the authorities in a constant struggle to justify
the continued existence of the tramway - the Quenzbrucke line has
been mooted for closure as an economy measure.
